MAMADOU, OUSMAN AND THE TREE

Once upon a time, in a very distant village, there was a man named Ousman who had a tree. This tree was known as the "Orphan tere": in that village, in the eastern region of Guinea, the orphan tree is considered a very special tree.

Ousman was a very poor man, he owned nothing, no land, but only a small house where he lived with his family. So he decided to plant this tree in his garden near the fence of his house.

Ousman's neighbor was a very evil man, his name was Mamadou.

After a few years the tree planted by Ousman grew bigger and bigger and his branches grew in the side of the Mamadou fence. The tree always dirty everything: whenever the tree shed its leaves, Mamadou and Ousman took some time to sweep the leaves, especially during the autumn period.

For this reason, one day Mamadou got angry and decided that he did not want the Ousman tree to grow on the side of his fence.

He went directly to Ousman's house and knocked on his door: "Please, Mr. Ousman, I need you to cut the branches of your Orphan Tree that are on my side. I am so tired of sweeping the leaves of this tree that you don't need!"

Ousman told him: "Don't worry, let the tree grow a little longer, be a little more patient, the fruits will start blooming soon and you will have everything that grows on your side of the fence for yourself. I am also available to sweep the leaves that grow in your garden”.

Mamadou insisted that Ousman cut the branches of the tree on his side: “I have been sweeping the leaves off my side of the fence for over four years. I can no longer tolerate it".

So Ousman went to the tree and with great pain cut the branches on the neighbor's side.

Only a few months later the fruits began to grow on the tree: there were so many fruits that, when Ousman started selling them, he made so much money that he changed his life for the better.

His neighbor Mamadou regretted not having waited a while after he saw Ousman selling fruit and making a lot of money.

Mamadou said, “Wow, look at Ousman! He was poorer than me and now he has become rich with the money he made with the fruit of the tree. If only I had really listened to him and had collaborated with him, I would not have remained a poorer man than him! .

As we can understand from the story, it is important to step out of our enclosure and our fences, listen to each other and collaborate.
